Trent Laurance - Head coach

Trent is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He has been training since 2008, and received his black belt in 2017. He has competed at all belt levels, both locally and internationally.

Trent has a passion for teaching Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and submission grappling to people regardless of their level of experience and physical ability. He prides himself in helping people to be their best selves on the mats, and encourages them to carry a positive attitude into other parts of their lives.

Trent holds a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, and a degree in Communications from the University of Notre Dame Australia. He has a current Working with Children clearance, a National Police clearance and a first aid certificate. Trent also volunteers his time to teach primary ethics at a local public school. He is always looking to improve upon his skills, to the benefit of his students.

His expertise is further strengthened by his background in law enforcement, where he served for several years as a Police Officer. This experience gives him practical, real-world insight into self-defense, conflict resolution, and the importance of discipline - principles he integrates into his coaching philosphy.
